Lightweight, sturdy and compact: the housing is designed with a small head radius and a 3-level splined connection for the reaction arm. The hydraulic coupler is positioned at the end of the torque wrench. Because of this the DRS can be used in limited radial spaces.

Expand application options with different inserts and sockets: existing sockets can be adapted with square drive insert type DRS-VE, additional inserts include socket type DRS-KSE and hex drive type DRS-SE. Reaction arm

Lightweight with large reaction area: the asymmetric reaction arm can be flipped in both directions, positioned along three levels of the splined housing, and rotated in 360°. Quick and easy positioning of the reaction arm with the simple push-button lock, no tools required. The reaction arm is capped with an extra-strong reaction plate which can easily be replaced if worn.

Quickly adapt to widest range of reaction possibilities: the spline allows for 360° positioning of the reaction arm along three levels of the housing. The built-in lock of the reaction arm allows for quick repositioning, no tools required.

With two swivel points at the wrench: independent rotation at each joint allows for maximum flexibility when positioning the tool and hose. With the connection positioned at the end of the tool the wrench fits into tighter spaces. The internal hydraulic cylinder is equipped with an automatic piston return for faster operation.

For applications with tight spaces ITH has supplied numerous customer specific solutions: at this rail car connection ITH manufactured a cusomized mounting device for the DRS torque wrench. The reaction arm was also customized to fit the circumference of the reaction point. Additionally this DRS is equipped with a torque-angle senor upon the splined output for offer torque-angle controlled tightening.

This Hydraulic Torque Wrench DRS 22 uses the opposing nut M 36 (1 1/4") as the reaction point to tighten the bolted connection of a pump which fills air bags. Using the built-in lock the reaction arm is easily secured on the splined housing, no tool required.

Flexible use on varying supporting conditions: These allen bolts M20 (3/4", bolt quality 10.9) of an independent wheel suspension of a transport car in a harbour are tightened with 1,400 Nm. Here the hydraulic hoseline is equipped with a safety spring (option).

The asymmetrical reaction arm can be flipped in either direction, as shown in the reverse direction on this DRS 50 used for the tower joint connection of a crane. This bolted connection M36, SW 55 (1 3/8", A/F 55) is tightened with 3,500 Nm.

At flange connections like this one of a reciprocating compressor of a high pressure pump the DRS 50 here reacts against an adjacent nut. The flange connections can be torqued simultaneously to evenly tighten the flange. This is done by running multiple wrenches from one hydraulic pump.

Torquing the bolts simultaneously: With the ITH Multi-torque you can use several ITH torque wrenches with one pump at the same time as part of a hydraulic system. The 950 bar working pressure is evenly distributed among the wrenches and all the bolts are all torqued to the same value. Evenly tightening a flange using ITH Multi-torque results in a better connection and minimizes the risk of leaks.

Technical product description of the hydraulic torque wrench type DRS

 
 

All ITH torque wrenches function according to the torque method, optionally to the torque angle method.

The compact hydraulic torque wrench type DRS is used in radially limited spaces and applications with varying reaction points (e.g. cast housing, cranes, etc...)

Features and layout
The slim housing with 360°, three level splined connection for the reaction arm allows it to be positioned axially and radially to reach the optimal reaction point. This flexibility offers the biggest reaction point in the market. The fine-tooth socket of the patented ratchet system guarantees a steady transfer of torque. The internal single-acting hydraulic cylinder has an automatic piston return to increase operating speed.

Existing sockets and nuts can be used
The splined output works with inserts including square drive type DRS-VE, hex socket type DRS-KSE, and hex drive type DRS-SE. Adapt to existing sockets and nuts with square drive inserts type DRS-VE. Find an overview about all insterts for the DRS here.

Maintenance-friendly modular design and TWIN-swivel connection
The modular design (hydraulic cylinder, ratchet system, and housing) is easy to service with fast replacement of worn parts. The TWIN-swivel connection offers a full range of motion for positioning the the tool and hydraulic hose. This is ideal for work in tight spaces.
