Druing the "Girls' Day" six pupils from the local schools have visited the headquater of ITH Bolting Technology in Meschede, Germany, to gain a first-time impression of how it feels like to work in technical jobs. The girls – aged between 13 and 15 years – had fun while designing, producing and mounting their own LED-board.
Hosting the girls ITH supported the so called „Girls‘ Day – girls‘ future day“ which is an annual initiative of the German gouvernment to promote young women working in technical jobs.
„We do not only want to show and tell the young women how it is to work in a technical company like ours“, explains Frank Hohmann, who runs the family buisness ITH together with his brother Jorg Hohmann. „We want them to produce their own technical product from start to finish. Because we are convinced this gives you a better understanding of the whole company process. We hope this helps the girls to make a deceision for a technical job career later on“.
During the production of their own LED-board the girls passed nearly all ITH departments in the shop and in the office.
„It was a lot of fun“, the girls said. „We learned a lot about technology“.
ITH is convinced that education is a valuable key factor to develop our society sustainably. That is why we promote local schools with cooperation projects (for example “Girls Day”, “Management workshop”) or support technical courses at school with new equipment.
Regular physical activities contribute to health and personal wellness. Therefore ITH promotes sports for its employees. ITH is also main sponsor and co-organizer of the ITH-Hennesee-Triathlon.
