The new high-pressure pump series ITH-Hydro-DAX-V for hydraulic torque wrenches and general-purpose hydraulic jacks is available in three power classes: V12, V18, and V21

Vertical design and optimized weight-to-power-ratio: New ITH-Hydro-DAX V-series

19.09.2019

Smaller dimensions with increased power – for hydraulic torque wrenches and general-purpose hydraulic jacks of all brands up to 850 bar (12,330 Psi).

The vertical design gives the new hydraulic pump - ITH Hydro-DAX V-series their name because it offers many advantages when working with hydraulic torque wrenches or general-purpose hydraulic jacks of all brands:

  •  The usable oil volume was increased;
  •  Weight and dimensions have been reduced significantly.

Increased performance by continuous development

The optimised motor drive concept and continuous development of the high-pressure hydraulic components, enables the usable oil volumes to be increased significantly during multi-staged oil pressure build-up. The maximum operating pressure of 850 bar (12,330 Psi) is the highest in the market sector.

Both factors are the reason for a faster pressure build-up when powering hydraulic torque wrenches of all brands.

“These design factors have led to one of the best weight-to-power ratios in this market sector for high-pressure pumps”, says Dipl.-Ing. Frank Hohmann, president of ITH Bolting Technology.

Robust and ready for challenging fields of operation – proven by the ITH research and development center

The Hydro-DAX V-series has undergone several multi-stress examinations in the ITH temperature laboratory of the ITH headquarters – one of the biggest competence centers in bolting technology bigger than M16 (3/8”).

Using different simulation set-ups – with temperature environments from -20°C to +40°C (-4°F to 104°F) and varying bolt dimensions – the Hydro-DAX V-series was tested in terms of material, performance and temperature behavior.

“The examinations show very good results during both long-term testing and performance-peaks” says Dipl.-Ing. Jörg Hohmann who leads the global leading system supplier ITH together with his brother Dipl.-Ing. Frank Hohmann.

The robust multi-ribbed Aluminum oil tank and electric fan wheel guarantee a stable temperature exchange. The fan runs constantly to maximize cooling, even when no pressure is built. For working environments with constant high temperatures or for very high cycles, there is an option to add an extra oil cooler

These features make the Hydro-DAX V-series ready for use on international sites.

One of a kind: Digital gauge displays torque and pressure

Additional developments include a new optional digital gauge (accuracy ±1,0% or optional ±0,5%) which displays both pressure and torque when powering hydraulic torque wrenches – a unique function within this application.

The user chooses the predefined ITH hydraulic torque wrench type in the gauge menu (mode). For other brands or when powering general-purpose hydraulic jacks, other modes can be chosen individually.

The display shows:

  1.  Pressure (bar or Psi) up to max. 1,000 bar (14,500 Psi)
  2.  Torque (Nm or ft·lbs)
  3.  Temperature (°C or °F)
  4.  Pressure build-up process bar (workload of max. pressure in percent)
  5.  Chosen mode: ITH hydraulic torque wrench type or “individual"

Features and options

New is also the concept of bolted frames which leads to a better weight-to-power ratio and better accessibility of all parts during maintenance. The cable organizer is positioned topside and offers easy stowing of the powerline and the remote during transport and storage.

The ITH Hydro-DAX V-series covers three available power classes:

  1.  V12
  2.  V18
  3.  V21.

Used oil-bath electric motors work on frequencies of 50 Hz and 60 Hz which makes them ideal for hydraulic equipment parks of international companies.

When powering ITH hydraulic torque wrenches the Hydro-DAX V-series can optionally be added with:

  1. Automatic torque mode (ITH Auto-Torque)
  2. Torque-angle controlled tightening (ITH-System ALPHA)
  3. Digital documentation system “Docu”

Compatibility and application

ITH Hydro-DAX V-series is compatible with hydraulic torque wrenches of all brands with single-hose and dual-hose systems up to a pressure of max. 850 bar (12,330 Psi).

Furthermore, the V-series can power general-purpose hydraulic jacks of all brands: The concept of the hydraulic components enables the V-series to hold hydraulic jacks in an extended status when pressurized.
