ITH Bolting Technology welcomed more than 180 participants from all over the world for the 3rd Bolt Connection Conference in Meschede, Germany. Contact ITH for detailed technical information about the lectures.
Leading innovations and new technical reports from development and research into bolting technology for sizes M20 (8") and above were presented to more than 180 international technicians and engineers over 2 conference days.
Industry experts are discussing certain crucial W-questions relating to the tightening of a bolted connection:
„The measurement, documentation and interpretation of bolting procedures are the current major trends", explains ITH-president Frank Hohmann, who leads the global acting family-business ITH Bolting Technology together with his brother Jörg Hohmann.
ITH was responsible for organising and delivering the conference.
When developing bolting solutions two strategies can be applied: "Either you attach intelligent components to the fastener", Frank Hohmann points out. "Or you modify the bolting tool - for example with an intelligent documentation system".

The participants joined the practical part "hands on tools" on the first day of conference, in order to gain an impression of latest bolting tool developments. At the headquarters of ITH Bolting Technology in Meschede, Germany, twelve bolting tool demonstration stands were prepared and functions and features of the various bolting solutions were shown.
Conference day two was all about the twelve lectures of international and well renowned speakers from all over Europe. The main auditoirum of the University of Applied Sciences Southwestfalia in Meschede provided an appropriate venue. The lecture topics dealt with the complete "process chain in bolting technology":

„The bolting technology scene is international", Jörg Hohmann says. "That is why we made the decision to make it German and English for the first time“. Four out of twelve lectures were held in English. For the other eight presentations a simultaneous translation service was offered via headphones for all international participants.
One quarter of participants were international, hailing from
and even from Malaysia and Australia to join the conference in Meschede, Germany.
Jörg Hohmann summarizes: „From personal conversations and from the results of our evaluation forms we received a very positive feedback. This can be taken as recognition of our organization and good choice of lectures".
The 4th Bolt Connection Conference is planned to take place in three or four years.
In addition to the Bolt Connection Conference, there are further, productive research and development initiatives between The University of Applied Sciences Southwestphalia and ITH Bolting Technology.
"Local educational and scientific institutions such as The University of Applied Sciences South Westphalia are important to the whole region", Frank Hohmann points out. "These institutions need projects and the industry needs research and development, this is beneficial to both sides. We would like to thank the University of Applied Sciences for good cooperation during the bolting conference and look forward to working together in future".
