An insight into the day-to-day work of a technical clerk – directly from the employees in the internal sales department at ITH Bolting Technology.

Internal sales at ITH Bolting Technology is more than just a job: here, committed people work together to create solutions for international customers and excel in the process. What makes our operations so special? Two employees give an exclusive insight.

Varied tasks – always close to the customer

The internal sales department is the heart of customer service at ITH Bolting Technology. The tasks range from processing inquiries and preparing quotations to working closely with field service, design, production, purchasing and marketing. Technical administrators accompany projects from the initial inquiry through to successful completion – and are always in contact with a wide variety of people.

Kevin Kotthoff, who has been part of the team for many years, describes his daily routine as follows: “In the morning, I first check the new inquiries from our customers and representatives. Then I coordinate the tasks for our trainees and take care of processing inquiries myself. We are the back office of the sales force, but we operate very independently and bear a lot of responsibility.”

Vanessa Gonzalez Gandara, who joined the team in May 2024, also emphasizes the variety of tasks: “I maintain customer data in the CRM system, support the sales force with offers, organize the office routine and digitize documents. I particularly like the combination of customer contact and organizational operations.”

Technical know-how and soft skills – both count

In addition to technical understanding and a confident handling of MS Office, CRM and ERP systems, team spirit, strong communication skills and organizational talent are particularly important. A good command of English is a plus in an international environment.

“You should be open to new tasks and approach them without fear,” says Kevin. “You learn something new every day and become more confident in dealing with customers and colleagues.” Vanessa adds: “A friendly manner, a sense of responsibility and flexibility are just as important to us as the motivation to develop yourself further.”

Focus on team spirit and personal development

ITH attaches great importance to respectful cooperation, structured induction and personal development. New colleagues receive an individual induction plan, regular feedback meetings and the opportunity to actively contribute. Vanessa reports: “I was surprised by how open and helpful everyone here is. You immediately feel welcome and can ask questions at any time.” Kevin also emphasizes the close cooperation between the departments: “Despite our growth, you know almost all of your colleagues after a short time. We are a well-coordinated team and support each other.”

Tips for a successful start

“Determination, a thirst for knowledge, openness to new things and a structured way of working are important – and sometimes it helps to be spontaneous,” advises Kevin.

Vanessa recommends: “Take your time to get to know the internal processes. Commitment, reliability and team spirit are particularly important to us.”
