Open design (hollow piston) enables the hydraulic bolt tensioning cylinder to be used for long protruding threads like on foundation bolts, heat exchangers or flanges.
Flexible locknut
Typical application of an ITH bolt tensioning cylinder type ESH on foundation bolts of a wind turbine, including an ITH Locknut. The square drive on top of the ITH Locknut enables the use of a battery nutrunner to accelerate the installation.
ITH Multi-tensioning: 4 bolts of a heat exchanger are tightened simultaneously and evenly by the use of 4 ITH bolt tensioning cylinders type ESH.
Special feature: The preload is transferred into the bolt connection by the use of an ITH Splitnut. The ITH Splitnut features a lever mechanism which allows to open the Splitnut radially for fast positioning on the protruding thread. Time consuming turning down of a nut can be avoided.
Long threaded rods can be used for the tensioning or pushing of objects or to keep them in position. In this case a tower segment of a wind turbine is corrected by use of ITH bolt tensioning cylinder type MSH.
The preload force is transferred by a standard hexagon nut.
The “open” hollow piston design enables fast installation of the bolt tensioning cylinder on long protruding threads.
The preload force can be transferred into the bolt connection by:
1. ITH Locknut (in the picture)
2. Standard hexagon nut
3. ITH Splitnut
Optional features in the picture:
Flexible lock nut
Dirt protector
*The hydraulic bolt tensioning cylinder series for foundation bolts or long projecting threads includes different designs to match the requirements of the common bolt standards:
1. Types ESH – single-staged, hollow piston
2. Types MSH – multi-staged, hollow piston
3. Type ES – single-staged, “closed” cover
4. Type MS – multi-staged, “closed” cover
Types ES and MS designs consider larger tool heights to match long projecting threads.
